Know the area

Driving conditions around Butler

Butler is one of Perth’s fastest-growing suburbs, and its roads reflect that. Assessors don’t publish set routes, but this is what you can expect around the centre.

The Butler DoT test area, explained, Golden Road Driving Academy on YouTube

Roundabouts everywhere

Single and multi-lane roundabouts along Butler Boulevard and through the estates. Lane choice, giving way and exit indicating are common mark-losers.

School zones

Several schools sit close by. Zones drop to 40 km/h at school-zone times, and you’re expected to slow down in time.

Speed limit changes

From 50 km/h estate streets up to Marmion Avenue and Connolly Drive. Watch every sign and adjust smoothly.

New estates & roadworks

Temporary speed limits, changed line markings and trucks are common in the northern corridor.

Pedestrians & cyclists

Around the train station, the shopping precinct and schools. Scan early and often.

Merging & lane changes

Faster dual-lane roads mean planning merges early, checking blind spots and keeping a safe gap.

The bottom line: learners who already know Butler’s roundabouts and speed changes drive more calmly on test day and make fewer mistakes.
