Overseas licence holders

Converting an overseas licence in WA?

Since 31 October 2025, WA no longer offers Experienced Driver Recognition. If your licence is from a country WA does not recognise, you need to pass a theory test and the practical driving assessment (PDA) to get a WA licence. Experienced overseas drivers often lose marks on WA habits, not on driving skill.

  • We focus on what WA assessors mark: head checks, MIB, roundabouts, give way rules, speed and stopping at the line.
  • We practise on the real test routes around the Joondalup and Butler test centres.
  • Mock test under PDA rules ($90), so you know exactly where you stand before the real one.
  • Sit your PDA in our car with our test day options.

Rules depend on where your licence is from and your residency, and they change (WA recognised 14 more jurisdictions from 31 October 2026). Australian citizens and permanent residents can drive on a current overseas licence for up to 3 months. Always check your own situation with the Department of Transport.

Refresher lesson FAQs

Do you offer refresher lessons for licensed drivers?

Yes. If you already hold a licence but feel nervous driving after years off the road, a move to Perth or with an overseas licence, we go at your pace. Most people start with the 3-Lesson Pack ($222) or a 2-hour lesson ($150).

Can I use my own car?

Yes. Lessons can be in our dual-control automatic car or your own registered car. If you use your own car, bring your licence and we check the car with you before the lesson starts.

How many refresher lessons will I need?

It depends on how long you've been off the road and what worries you. Many drivers feel confident again after 2 to 3 lessons. We'll tell you honestly after your first lesson.

I have an overseas licence. Do I need lessons for the WA test?

I'm really nervous. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Many of our refresher students are nervous at first. We start on quiet streets, never rush you and the car has dual controls, so you're always safe.

Can I pay with Afterpay?

Yes. The 3-Lesson Pack can be paid in 4 instalments of $55.50 with Afterpay. Packs are valid for 2 years from purchase.
